Story of a white woman and a black man: Racism

A good online friend sent me this message and at the bottom, it requested it be forwarded. The best way I know to reach as many people as possible is to copy-paste the whole message and publish it here as it can be considered "a fable with something to teach." But the message said it is a true story. Anyway, if anyone object to this post being published here, please contact me by clicking "click here to contact me" which at time of publishing is at the bottom of the left sidebar.

The following scene took place on a BA flight between Johannesburg and London . This is a true story.

A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a Black man. Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter," the Hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it then?" she responded. "You placed me next to a Black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat." "Be calm please, the Hostess replied. "Almost all the seats on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another seat is available." The Hostess went away and came back a few minutes later. "Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in Economy class. I spoke to the Captain and he informed me that there are also no seats in the Business class. All the same, we still have one seat in First class." Before the woman could reply, the Hostess continued: "It is unusual for our company to permit someone from Economy class to sit in First class. However, given the circumstances, the Captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone so disgusting." She turned to the Black man and said, "Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat awaits you in First class." At that moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded. If you are against Racism, please send this message to all your friends. Please do not delete it without sending it to at least one person. "When you're down to nothing, God is up to something.

That is a real good Captain, and I wish there are more like him, anti-racialism, quick thinking, smart.

BTW I too had the honor of being invited to a special seat, to me, even better than First Class or Premier Class if ever there is one, by the Captain of an airplane I happened to be flying in. Over the public address system came this message: "Captain ***** ***** ***** welcome you ....."

Hey, that is the name of my classmate!!!! I requested an air hostess to pass this message to the Captain: "Please tell Captain **** **** **** that Mr. **** **** **** is on board. The air hostess came with a message from the Captain: "The Captain invites you to join him in the cockpit." And guess what? I got to sit in the jump seat (a folding seat between the Captain or pilot and his co-pilot). That is a real special seat for me which no money can buy. Plus there is free flow of drinks. What a flight!!!!!

I think it was a fable Peter, but I forwarded it to you as I am not a racist myself and thought that particular story was very apt especially in today's world.
I had a shock to see you publish it but it might make a few people think more about this very common problem.
I have quite a few friends who are not white; one in particular in the USA tells me she is still looked down upon.
Personally I think that a disgrace.

Selamat hari Whizzed,

Sorry I did not check with you first but the bottom of the message said " If you are against Racism, please send this message to all your friends" so that is what I did. It possibly could be true, who knows, for there are people with principles, and tha Captain could be one of them. Anyway, if you are not comfortable with it, I will leave the individual post page URL (peermalink) and comment out or delete the whole thing and just leave some notes as I hate dead links. And dead links may be what you get if you completely delete posts.

One other possibility Whizzed. Perhaps I can edit fable to tale or just leave out the part, make a remark that may go something like "it may or may not be true, but all I know characters like that pilot, people with principles and are not racist, do exist. It could actually have happened as I myself have had actual interactions with air hostess and pilot" or something to that effect.

Also, if the tale is edited out, and we don't want our comments hanging in an almost empty post, we may delete all the comments if you want.

It is your call.

I do not see anything wrong with the story. People need to be aware the injustices that goes on a daily basis fable or not. I am Black and my wife is Chinese/Filipino. I live it every day. Racism does exist today but with more subtlety. Its a disease that would never be cured. I have a pretty interesting article on my blog you should check it out Dehumanization of Black Savage Consequences Keep up the good work NanoGeekTech

I agree with nanogeek Peter don't edit it as too much of this goes on in our world sadly.
I suspect it will be a very long time before this type of injustice ceases if ever.
