Brief introduction to Mr. Lau Weng San

Lau Weng San is a likely candidate for the state seat of KAMPUNG TUNKU in the Parliamentary Constituent, PJ Utara (Petaling Jaya Utara).

The current assemblyman (ADUN) for the state seat of KAMPUNG TUNKU is Wong Sai Hou who has demonstrated that he did not act in interest of the Petaling Jaya residents as illustrated by the illegal bill board and requirements for advertisers to pay money to the then Petaling Jaya Town Council (MPPJ or Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya) as council member.

Mr. Lau Weng San is the Parliamentary Secretary to Y.B. Lim Kit Siang, the Opposition leader, very likely not drawing a high salary which he might get had he opted to remain in his field of specialization, which is Chemical Engineering. If Mr. Lau wants to become rich, he could have chosen either to pursue a more lucrative career as a Chemical Engineer or join the Barisan. But he joined DAP instead, which is not going to make him rich. Obviously Mr. Lau Weng San will be hard pressed to finance his own service center, but I think he is using the DAP headquarter as his service center.

Update: Lau Weng San service center is near the New Seaview Restaurant in Paramount Garden. Directly opposite the restaurant are terrace houses with a side road in between. Go along this side lane to the road behind the terrace houses and the service center is a short distance to the left.

Haris - you could have been that David

The period before the March 8 2008 Malaysian 12^th elections was depressing. The corrupt and power abusing UMNO/BN was perceived as all powerful and invincible. While the major objectives of those hoping for a positive change for Malaysia was to deny the blasted UMNO/BN its traditional two-third majority in the Malaysian Parliament, all of us had only a glimmer of hope. It was not easy for the opposition political parties to field candidates of caliber as most perceived the chances of winning to be very slim plus there is no real monetary rewards even if one wins.

So it was with this backdrop that when I heard of the possibility of Billi Lim contributing to a four-corner contest for the Bukit Bintang constituency, I arranged for a meeting hoping to dissuade him and that if he still wants to contest, to try to work out something with the opposition parties (Interview: Billi Lim, candidate for Bukit Bintang Parliamentary Constituent).

I now know that Bernard Khoo of Zorro Unmasked too did the same thing per: Wee Choo Keong, but he succeeded while I failed. See Sibu Wong can replace Wangsa Maju Wee:

Over many rounds at the National Press Club prior to March 8, 2008 I (Bernard) amongst others have dissuaded him to enter the fray forcing a three-cornered fight in Bukit Bintang. Good sense prevailed and he agreed to contest under PKR in Wangsa Maju.

Well, Wee Choo Keong got elected, but has ended up deserting and betraying Pakatan Rakyat and the people who supported and voted for him.

Thus when I read Haris Ibrahim's It’s about doing what is right, and being prepared to pay the price where he compared the contest between the resource poor Pakatan Rakyat and the literally filthy rich SUPP and BN to the well know Biblical story of David and Goliath, it reminded me a a spat between me and Haris when I was with his civil initiative "People's Parliament: Get a MP" when I learned of his intention to encourage independent candidates to contest in the already difficult to win 12^th general elections. I then suggested the same thing that I had suggested to Billi Lim and Bernard had suggested to Wee Choo Keong, that is, to try to work with the opposition parties instead of sponsoring independents which have slim chances of winning plus end up splitting the votes of those hoping for positive changes. Haris accused me of being a DAP recruiting agent when all I had wanted was to avoid multi-sided contests.

It occurred to me that had we been able to reason without getting hot and upset, Haris Ibrahim could have been that David instead of that frog Wee Choo Keong. Well, I sincerely hope that Haris has put that incident behind and have forgiven me for blurting out something that I should not have.

Reject all Barisan MPs as long as the whip is imposed all the time

I have been getting news online about how former Ministers who lost in the election is not going to accept invitation to become a Senator and will concentrate on rebuilding the party. That include Samy Vellu which used to rule MIC with an iron fist and kicked out many MIC dissidents. Now he is going to invite those he kicked out to rejoin MIC to help rebuild the party.

I would advice all concerned Malaysians to reject all Barisan Nasional candidates in the next General Election as long as the whip is enforced ALL THE TIME IRRESPECTIVE OF MERITS of whatever had been tabled or proposed (I am not too familiar with procedures of Parliament except what is the meaning of the whip - Member of Parliaments of a party or coalition must vote for anything, rubbish or gold, irrespective of merits, from the Barisan Nasional and against anything, also irrespective of merits anything from the non-Barisan Nasional parties. This means their hands are tied at the Parliament, where all the important decisions are made, and they cannot vote according to conscience.

We should reject BN camdidates irrespective of character or reputation. This is only my opinion which you may agree or not. Feel free to comment on what your views are on this matter.

Kelana Jaya Constituency: Who should you vote for?

To People's Parliament and Kelana Jaya voters, who feels that Loh Gwo-Burne is not a credible candidate because they do not know enough about him. May I ask, how much time do you have to get to know candidates within such short period of time. I would say that for the Barisan, we know enough. For Loh Gwo-Burne, we should take the interim stand that we know sufficient to give him his chance, that he risked all to come out into the open to testify. After all, Haris said in the SS2 Petaling Jaya (click BACK button to get back to this page) that "if we can put them in, we can take them out. Give him one chance. Throw him out if he does not perform in the next 4 to 5 years. We do not have the luxury of time to dig into every nooks and corners of a candidate. Even if we are given 4 years, I doubt anyone can find out all about any candidate.

Yes we should know about our Candidates. What do we know about Loh Gwo-Burne? Not much, but he was brave enough enough to come forward and testify in the Royal Commission for the VK Lingam tape. How many Malaysians are prepared to do that? They will be afraid of getting black listed. If he is prepared to risk his future by coming out in the open, this at least we can expect of him. He, I believe could be counted upon to defy the Executive, to not vote for bills and proposals that are against the nation's interest and against his conscience.

How about the Barisan candidate? Will he go against the whip? Will he be brave enough to go vote against party lines? You know the answer. Tony Pua is an Oxford graduate who succeeded to list an IT company in the Singapore Stock Exchange and came back to Malaysia to get involved in politics, I assume, to effect positive changes to Malaysia, same objective as this group. I assume, if Tony's objective is to get rich, he would have been better off staying put in Singapore or join the Barisan, not DAP. One cannot get rich by joining DAP, one only get headaches. Tony Pua is the likely candidate for the Parliamentary seat of PJ Utara (Petaling Jaya Utara).
