PAS now offers prosperous Sabah without Hudud? Not believable

The Malaysia Today reported that PAS would aim for a prosperous Sabah without Hudud. But can we trust PAS? I would say an emphatic NO!

Remember that earlier had talked about PAS for all when they contested against UMNO/BN together with the now defunct Pakatan Rakyat, but on winning the 13th General Election under Hadi leadership, they submitted a bill to the Parliament that is equivalent to introducing Hudud despite objections from other Pakatan Rakyat component parties.

Not only that, PAS wants to enforce Hudud in Peninsular Malaysia, but now offers "no Hudud" in Sabah for expediency reason merely because they want to win power in Sabah and since they have gone back on their promises (remember PAS for all? plus going against the agreement to decide on consensus basis in PR) there is no guarantee they will not go back on their promises to Sabah.

Remember decisions in Pakatan Rakyat are made subject to consensus and clearly that step to introduce the "Hudud" bill did not receive consensus of of PR component parties leading to breakup of Pakatan Rakyat.

And what did PAS do after that? PAS started overtures to get close to UMNO/BN despite knowing of all the scandals that had been committed by UMNO/BN. Not only that, they did not raise their voice against all the wrong doings of UMNO/BN including the heinous 1MDB scandal

How a party professing religion can ignore such wrong doings I do not know.

Unjust Malaysia, culprits go free but whistleblowers jailed

Malaysia is becoming more and more unjust. Rafizi Ramly and a bank clerk blew the whistle on Sharizat Jalil's family members

In the notorious cows and condos scandal where much of the RM250 million money meant to help poor farmers were used to buy expensive condos were exposed by Rafizi Ramly. Then Rafizi Ramli and ex bank clerk Johari were sentenced for disclosing confidential banking information on Shahrizat Jalil’s family members and a few companies owned by them. So the guilty party goes scoot free while whistleblowers were sentenced to jail time. Is that just?

This morning, the Attorney-General's Chambers asked for an RM500,000 fine and a prison sentence.

Luckily, the judge passed only a prison sentence because otherwise, I wouldn’t have the money to pay and would have to be taken to prison straight away.

So the fight must go on and I will see you soon. In the meantime, let’s work together to put an end to this, once and for all.

Sharizat refused to respond to questions regarding NFC

What is wrong with Malaysia when tiny or non-irregularities are investigated and right or wrong, the party involved is prosecuted and persecuted for alleged minor offence like the infamous Teoh Beng Hock death incidence.

However, allegations of the improper use of the RM250 million to the NFC (National Feedlot Corporation) being given the the family of Sharizat allegedly being abused, like the funds being used for personal expenses, Umrah (pilgrimage) and holidays by Sharizat and family, purchased of high end condominiums and Putrajaya land are glossed and not given any explanation by Sharizat and the allegations are not denied. Worse, the irregularities are deemed non-criminal by the Police.

So what is wrong with this country? It is time for a regime change but change will not be easy to come.

Shahrizat 'un-moooved' by questions on NFC

Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today refused comment on the over the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) fiasco, just a day after delivering a fiery speech condemning her critics on the subject.
At a press conference today after Umno president Najib Abdul Razak's policy speech at the Umno annual general assembly, Shahrizat was asked if she was a party to the cabinet's decision to approve the NFC project.
To this, Shahrizat raised her eyebrow, shook her head lightly and waved her right hand to indicate that she will not respond to that question.

Instead, Shahrizat gave her response to Umno president Najib Abdul Razak's policy address and hurriedly left the press conference, ignoring further queries from the press.

Yesterday, Shahrizat had condemned her critics for attacking her and her family over the NFC project, which was highlighted in the Auditor-General's Report 2010.

The project was awarded to a company owned by Shahrizat's family in 2007 under Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's administration when Shahrizat was a serving cabinet minister.

In her speech at the Wanita Umno AGM yesterday, Shahrizat said the NFC project had nothing to do with her.

Her critics, primarily PKR, had claimed NFC had abused a RM250 million soft loan to purchase luxury condominiums and funded oversea trips.

Just hours after Shahrizat's speech, PKR hurled fresh allegationson the NFC, accusing the company of abusing funds to buy land in the administrative capital of Putrajaya and a luxury car.

Following this, the normally affable and chatty Shahrizat did not call for any press conferences after her speech yesterday. In contrast, her Youth wing counterparty Khairy Jamaluddin met reporters twice.

At another press conference earlier today, Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who has been backing Shahrizat thus far, declined comment on PKR's fresh allegations.
"I don't hope that the opposition will praise us. We work hard, they don't praise us; We do the right thing, they also don't praise us. It has become a norm to us," he said.
Khairy, who had wrote a long article in defence of the NFC project, too refused comment on the fresh allegations.
"I have not had a chance (to talk to her on the matter)," he told a separate press conference this morning.
Former Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, when met at the sidelines of the AGM, said Shahrizat is capable of assessing whether the issue will cause damage to Umno.
Asked if she should resign, Mahathir replied: "I don't know".

COMMENT By BN standards, the National Feedlot Corporation project scandal is no big deal, as it involves no more than RM300 million of public funds.

But the intensive debate over it has allowed us to gauge the country's current state of governance, and more importantly, whether there has been a paradigm shift in the BN leadership under the various transformation programmes brought in by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak (left).

The current scandal is typical of BN misadventures with public funds; a large sum is given to an incompetent crony who squanders the money without bringing the project to fruition.

And the response by BN leaders, from the prime minister down, has been nothing but a series of cover-ups and excuses.
There has been no attempt to face the problem squarely and come up with effective remedial measures.

The culture of transparency and accountability seems to be alien to these people, despite hundreds of millions of taxpayers' ringgit being dumped to trumpet Najib's many ‘transformations' for the country.

The National Feedlot Corporation Sdn Bhd (NFC) was given the task to "transform the Malaysian cattle and beef industry into a world-class halal beef producer", according to news agency Bernama, reporting on the signing ceremony of the RM250 million soft loan on Dec 6, 2007.

Target production was 60,000 heads of cattle for Phase 1 from the feedlot in Gemas. Operation was scheduled to start in February 2008.

NFC in a mess

Four years on, the auditor-general in his 2010 report stated that the NFC project was in a mess. The total number of cows slaughtered was only 5,742 up to November last year.

Even by the scaled-down target of 8,000 cows per year, the project is a flop.

Compounding this unpalatable report is the discovery of money being misused, such as RM10 million to buy a luxurious condominium and over RM800,000 for overseas travelling and entertainment in 2009, despite the company running at a loss of RM7 million in 2008 and RM11 million in 2009.
It looks like NFC will meet the same fate as so many other BN forerunners such as the PKFZ, Perwaja, etc - besides losing hefty public funds, the dream of transforming this or that is gone.

And who owns NFC? The family of Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Women, Welfare and Community Development Minister, and head of Wanita Umno.
Her husband, Mohamad Salleh Ismail, is the chairperson, and of her children, one is CEO and two are executive directors of the company.

Expertise and experience in the business of cattle production and beef supply of the Shahrizat family is nil.

There are more than 300 feedlot farms in this country, and many established businesses in the beef supply industry.

With our people's accumulation of expertise in this area, shouldn't we have entrusted the important mission of boosting domestic beef production to entrepreneurs who are better qualified than the Shahrizat family?

Top guns to the defence

Added to the comedy is the scrambling to defend NFC and Shahrizat by personages no less than the prime minister, the deputy prime minister, the agriculture and agro-based industries minister, the Umno Youth leader, and now the latest, former prime minister Abdullah Badawi.

The PM said in Parliament on Nov 11 that there was no wrong-doing, and that production will soon increase to "12,000 cattle from 6,000 previously".

The DPM, who started the project when he was then the minister involved, said in a press conference on Oct 29 that he saw nothing "unusual or anything wrong" with the project and passed the buck to current Agriculture Minister Noh Omar, to answer further questions.

Noh (left) denied any impropriety in the award of this project and called the project a "success", giving various reasons for the meagre production.

Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin, who holds no government post, has strangely emerged as the most vocal defender. However, his lengthy discourse seems to excel more in offensive language than in helpful facts.

And even former premier Abdullah Badawi has come to Shahrizat's rescue. He said on Nov 15 that there was no need for her to resign as she is not the CEO and hence not involved. This was in answer to repeated calls for Shahrizat to resign.

Strangely, no one seems to have called for the two ministers concerned to be brought to book - the previous agriculture minister (now DPM) Muhyiddin Yassin for having dubiously awarded the project to an incompetent recipient and the current minister Noh Omar for failing to properly oversee the execution of the project.

As for our corruption watchdog MACC, it had remained eerily silent since the scandal broke out almost three weeks ago until the scandal got overheated and it passed the buck to the police two days ago, saying that this is a police case, not a MACC case.

Will police do anything? Your guess is as good as mine.

That "Anwar Ibrahim" sex tape was supposed to be recorded from 10.23pm to a0.45pm. So in order to find out whether it really was Anwar in that tape, we just need to look at his Facebook posting activities around that period.

According to Kim Kuek's investigation, Anwar had made Facebook posting at 10.40pm, 10.49pm, 10.50pm, and further another 7 more postings up till 11.28pm. So this indicates Anwar could not have been in that hotel room having sex with that female prostitute with a man watching.

Further that love-making part lasted 17 minutes while the tape duration was 22 minutes leaving only 5 minutes for the other activities featured in the tape:

1. "Anwar look-alike" (now called Mr X because of doubts created) walked into room with a male who gave instructions to a prostitute.

3. female walked into bathroom to take a bath
4. Mr. X wiped his lower body parts

Cancer Institute cost jump to 700 million

Another case of crony capitalism by UMNO/BN. The Cancer Institute which was supposed to cost RM340 million (even this figure is likely inflated) and scheduled to be completed June 2009 has now balloned to RM700 million and still only in the "final stages" of construction. It would not be a surprise if the cost jump even further

PARLIAMENT The opposition bench today launched new salvoes at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his far-reaching government transformation plan (GTP), this time claiming that the construction cost of the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya had jumped by 100 percent to RM700 million.

PKR Machang MP Saifuddin Nasution (right) said the institute was initially supposed to cost RM340 million as indicated under the Ninth Malaysia Plan of former premier Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Saifuddin said the project, which was launched by Abdullah on Jan 9, 2007, was scheduled to be completed over 30 months by June 2009.

“But on March 10, 2009, the then Deputy Health Minister (Dr Abdul) Latif Ahmad said in Parliament that the institute is in the final stages of construction and will cost RM700 million,” he said at a press conference in Parliament.

“Twenty four months after the project was announced, the cost escalated by 100 percent,” he said.

This is a scandal of foisted upon Malaysians by UMNO/BN who under Dr. Mahathir, signed grossly lopsided agreements with PLUS and other toll road operators with obscene guaranteed profit and regular toll rate increases. Now because UMNO/BN fears upsetting the voters, they have frozen toll rates for 5 years and open themselves to potential RM5 billion compensation to PLUS for the five years. If toll rates are frozen till the end of the concession agreements, the compensation balloons to RM64 billion. What has UMNO/BN wrought upon the suffering nation:

The government may end up forking out RM64 billion to compensate Plus Highways Berhad, if it intends to freeze toll rates till the end of the concession term in 2038 as a populist move, said DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua.

Taking the going estimate of RM5 billion in compensation for the recently announced five-year freeze on toll rates on four of Plus' highways, he said it makes no sense for the government to make such an “obscene” pay-out just to keep voters happy.

“Given the circumstances where the government is fearful of increasing any toll rates due to a potential voter backlash, should the toll rates be frozen all the way till the concession expires, the total compensation that needs to be paid over the next 28 years will amount to a mind-boggling RM64 billion,” said Pua at a press conference in the parliament lobby today.

Pua (right), who is also Petaling Jaya-Utara MP, said it would be more sensible if the government instead takes over Plus Expressways Berhad rather than to allow the Employees' Providence Fund (EPF) and UEM Berhad to buy over the toll concessionaire

Repeating the DAP's proposal to nationalise toll concessionaires, he said it would cost the government RM23 billion to buy-over Plus, based on the RM4.60 per share offer by the UEM-EPF joint venture.

Assuming that the toll rates are then frozen for 14 years, the government would still recoup its investment and allow it to either make the highways toll free or charge just minimal fees for maintenance, he said.

“It absolutely does not make sense for the government to be compensating an obscene amount of RM5 billion to the concessionaire, or possibly even as high as RM64 billion over the entire period, when the cost of directly acquiring Plus will only be RM23 billion as offered by UEM-EPF.

“Unless of course, the government is intent on making Malaysians suffer,” he said.
Najib's (left) Budget 2011 speech last Friday highlighted a freeze in the earlier planned toll hike on Plus highways, one of many populist moves that prompted critics to label the budget an “election budget”.

Earlier, Pua had criticised the planned buy-over of Plus Expressways Bhd saying that while the EPF's main task is to ensure fund contributors receive dividends, Plus was "sucking" ordinary citizens who are paying high toll rates due to lopsided highway concessions.

"This is not the way for EPF to generate returns for the people. The government might as well just create more highways with unfair contracts and let EPF manage them.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 19 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng threw a wet blanket today over the five-year toll freeze for Plus highways, pointing out that it was “meaningless” and would only lead Malaysians into greater debt.

He explained in a statement that while the people would save on toll money, they still end up paying toll-road concessionaire Plus Expressways Bhd large compensations.

UEM Group managing director Datuk Izzaddin Idris revealed yesterday that the five-year toll freeze could cost the government some RM5 billion in compensation payments, which is about RM170 per Malaysian.

If added to the outstanding RM2.5 billion presently owed to Plus, the government would have to foot a staggering RM7.5 billion bill to the company.

Izzaddin however added that although compensations averaged at RM1 billion each year in the past, the actual sum to be paid to Plus for the five-year toll freeze still needed to be finalised with the government and could cost less than RM5 billion.

Lim said today that the compensation payments would only lead to an unhealthy increase in both Federal government debt and debt service charges.

“DAP is shocked at the revelations by UEM Group’s Datuk Izzaddin Idris that toll highway operator Plus could be compensated as much as RM5 billion by the Federal government over the next five years for not raising toll rates.

“Clearly freezing toll rates is meaningless as the people still has to pay through compensation payments by the government,” said Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general.

He suggested that the government consider a one-off nationalisation programme limited to toll concession agreements to prevent irresponsible companies from reaping extraordinary profits at the expense of the public.

“Nationalisation is necessary when toll concession operators like Plus have not only recouped their investment and construction costs but also maintenance costs and are earning pure profits from toll rates revenue collected.

“Failure to do so will not only create an unbearable financial burden to the people but also strain our country’s finances for the foreseeable future,” he said.

Lim revealed that according to the Finance Ministry’s Economic Report 2010/2011, the total federal government debt would soar by 12.6 per cent from RM362.4 billion in 2009 to RM408.2 billion in 2010.

This, he pointed out, meant every Malaysian would be in debt of RM15,118 as at 2010.

“In other words for every Malaysian born, he or she will be immediately in debt of RM15,118.

“If we take into account paying an extra RM1 billion every year to Plus, it is an expense and a debt burden that the country can ill-afford,” he said.

Lim also said that corresponding to the increase in federal debt, debt service charges had also increased from RM14.2 billion in 2009 to RM15.9 billion in 2010 and was expected to soar to RM18.6 billion in 2011.

“Many Malaysians are unhappy why the country has to carry such a huge debt burden borne by 27 million Malaysians for the benefit of one company.

“Clearly unless drastic action is taken, 27 million Malaysians will lose out to enable a company comprise of BN cronies to gain,” he concluded.

How Malaysia's companies funneled money into the country's biggest political party

In the 1980s and 1990s, Halim Saad and Tajudin Ramli were two of Malaysia's brightest stars, picked by former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad to lead the country's ethnic Malays onto the national stage as exemplars of a new Bumiputera business culture that would catch up with the ethnic Chinese who had dominated commerce as long as Malaysia had been in existence.

When Mahathir took office, insiders say, his plan was to create a cadre of 100 super-rich bumis who in turn would help rural Malays into prosperity under a konsep payung, or umbrella concept routed through the United Malays National Organization, much the way he envisioned driving the country into industrialization through massive projects. But greed intervened. Once the privileged got rich, there was little incentive to share it with the kampongs, the Malay rural villages. Many of the companies eventually collapsed and are being supported by government institutions such as Kazanah Nasional, the country's sovereign investment fund, or the Employee Provident Fund.

Although the Umno connection was widely assumed during Mahathir's 22 year reign as prime minister, today a flock of explosive court documents filed in different Kuala Lumpur courts appear to be breaking open conclusively the open secret that Tajudin and Halim and others were essentially front men for the United Malays National Organization, the country's biggest ethnic political party and part of a class of rentier businessmen who became known as Umnoputras, a play on the word Bumiputera, or native Malaysians, predominantly ethnic Malays.

Nor were they alone. Others included Syed Mokhtar Al Bukhary, one of Malaysia's richest men, as well as Yahaya Ahmad, who headed Mahathir's national car project and who tragically was killed with his wife in a helicopter crash, and Samsuddin Abu Hassan, introduced by Mahathir to the government of Nelson Mandela but who had to flee South Africa after being accused of misappropriating millions and evading South African debts totaling about R50 million (US$7.233 million at current exchange rates). Samsuddin left behind his glamorous wife, Melleney Venessa Samsudin, along with a failed Durban bank, and returned to Malaysia.

Samsudin ultimately ended up on the board of directors of Mitrajaya Holdings Bhd., another Umno-linked company that has played a significant role in major national projects including the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KL's Light Rail Transit System, the CyberJaya Flagship Zone and numerous other projects.

At least 23 of Malaysia's biggest companies (see list below) appear to have been vehicles for Umno to siphon off vast amounts of money in government contracts as Mahathir's plans went awry. The companies and the people who run them are so hard-wired into Umno, the government and its investment arms that de-linking them would probably destroy the party. That in effect makes a mockery of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak's widely publicized speech in July in which he promised to root corruption out of his party.

Much of the ownership appears to have been channeled through a mysterious company that emerged in 1993 to stage an RM800 million management buyout of a major chunk of Malaysia's media including the New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd and TV3. Realmild already owned a controlling interest in Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd, which got the contract to develop the massive Kuala Lumpur Sentral transport hub. It also acquired ownership of the Labuan and Sabah Shipyards, which supply the Malaysian Navy, as well as Redicare and Medivest, which were awarded lucrative contracts to supply medical supplies to government hospitals.

In September, Syed Anwar Jamalullail, the brother to the Sultan of Perlis, and others testified in a tangled court battle in a Kuala Lumpur High Court that Daim Zainuddin, the prime minister's close associate, often told Malay businessmen to act as nominees in the management of Malaysia's top companies. The long-running suit was launched five years ago in2005 by Khalid Ahmad, a former Realmild director, who alleged he had been cheated out of a RM10 million payment for five percent of Realmild's shares by Abdul Rahman, thought to be the beneficial owner.

According to the testimony, Abdul Rahman paid out the RM10 million but later reneged after he learned from Mahathir that the shares actually belonged to UMNO. The trustees for Realmild in fact were Mahathir himself as well as former Berita Harian Group Editor Ahmad Nazri Abdullah, New Straits Times Group Editor Abdul Kadir Jasin and Mohd Noor Mutalib. Another witness, Ahmad Nazri, said in a deposition that he held the majority share of 80 percent in Realmild, although 70 percent of the shares were actually in trust for Mahathir.

The companies others ran included Faber Group Bhd, a member of the UEM Group, now involved in integrated facilities management and property solutions sectors; KUB Malaysia Bhd. A holding company dealing in information, communications & technology, property, engineering & construction and food related industries.

The companies have been involved a wide variety of activities including media, property development, construction, toll roads, hospital equipment, logistics and distribution, cellular telephony and other businesses. What they had in common was that most of them benefited from government contracts doled out by the Barisan Nasional, the ruling coalition that has controlled Malaysia since its inception as a country. The other thing they had in common was that at some point most of them were mismanaged into financial trouble of one kind or another and had to be bailed out or bought out by the government.

Realmild unloaded Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd onto the Employee Provident Fund in late 2005 as part settlement for an outstanding Rm500 million loan. Putera Capital Bhd, is threatened with bankruptcy. It formerly owned the Putra World Trade Center, Umno's headquarters, which rents out office space to businesses. UEM Builders Bhd, an offshoot of United Engineers Malaysia (UEM), along with UEM World Bhd, was dumped onto Kazanah Nasional, the investment holding arm of the government and the government's strategic investment vehicle.

Kazanah Nasional now also owns PLUS, which held the tollway contract for the national north-south highway, as well as Pharmaniaga, a former UEM subsidiary dealing in hospital supply and other services. Court documents show that MAS, then the state-owned flag carrier, was taken over and privatized by Tajudin Ramli only to lose an estimated RM8 billion (US$2.77 billion at current exchange rate), with a major part of that being funneled into a Frankfurt, Germany cargo logistics company whose directors were closely connected to Tajudin.

According to the website Malaysia Today, Tajudin's lawyers revealed that Tajudin had only been a front man for Umno and that Umno "not only has to protect him from prosecution but that they also had to ensure that the government bought back the shares at the same price that they were sold to him although the shares were only worth a portion of the real value."

Other depositions made available in recent weeks have listed a long series of documents detailing misdoings in UEM/Renong, once headed by Halim Saad, which has long been accused of looting the government treasury through vastly overpriced construction contracts. Halim told the press in September that he had left the UEM/Renong board in 2001, saying authorities wanted Kazanah to take it over "to prevent a systemic risk to the banking system in Malaysia and to enable a sustained restructuring of the group."

UEM itself is still at it. The government-linked company was given the contract to build a second bridge from the mainland to the northern city of Penang at a price estimated in 2007 at Rm2.7 billion. It has since climbed to RM4.3 billion without figuring in a variety of ancillary costs including compensation for fishermen and project development costs of RM285 million, with the total now nearing RM5 billion.

Other documents show how completely the country's press was in the thrall of UMNO. Media Prima Bhd, a listed company, apparently took over the ownership from Realmild of TV3, 8TV, ntv7 and TV9 as well as 90 percent of the equity in The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd, which publishes three national newspapers; the New Straits Times, Berita Harian and Harian Metro. It also owns three radio networks, Fly FM, Hot FM and One FM. Other cross media interests of Media Prima include content creation; event and talent management.

It also owns outdoor advertising companies Big Tree Outdoor Sdn Bhd, UPD Sdn Bhd, Right Channel Sdn Bhd, Kurnia Outdoor Sdn Bhd and Jupiter Outdoor Network Sdn Bhd. It is online through a digital communications and broadcasting subsidiary, Alt Media, with the Lifestyle Portal gua.com.my and the newly launched TonTon, a cutting-edge video portal with HD-ready quality viewing experience that offers the individualism of customized content and interactivity of social networking.

How playing golf with the Prime Minister can earn you billions

For about ten years and over three Prime Ministers, the current Prime Minister included, the contract for the double-tracking electric train from Gemas to Johor Bahru has been ding-donging. Despite what was agreed between the leaders of China and the three Prime Ministers, which was later confirmed by the issuance of a Letter of Intent to China Railways Engineering Corporation (CREC), the government is again backtracking.
Najib now wants to award the contract to China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd. (CHEC) instead, the company that is building the Second Penang Bridge -- which shot up from RM1 billion to RM4.5 billion and now to RM22 billion (read more on the matter below).

The man behind this is Tan Kay Hock, Najib’s golf buddy. He is brokering the deal on behalf of CHEC.
The Chinese say that Tan Kay Hock is demanding RM500 million from CHEC and he told them that RM200 million is for Najib's family. And this is making the Chinese very unhappy because, in China, both the givers as well the receivers of bribes will be sentenced to death with a bullet in the head plus the cost of the bullet is charged to the family of the deceased.

When the Chinese government offered the Malaysian government a loan to construct the Gemas to JB railway they indicated that CREC should be the contractor. CREC is one of the biggest specialist contractors for electric trains while CHEC has not constructed even one kilometer of electric railway (more details below).
A Letter of Intent had already been awarded to CREC. Now the government wants to cancel this Letter of Intent and issue a new Letter of Intent to CHEC. But for the new Letter of Intent to be issued to CHEC they must fork out RM500 million, which Kay Hock claims RM200 million will be paid to the Prime Minister of Malaysia’s family.

This is not only a violation of the terms of the loan from China but CREC is the company with the experience in constructing electric railways, not CHEC, the company already involved in the construction of the Second Penang Bridge. Added to the withdrawal or cancellation of the Letter of Intent to CREC and a new one issued to CHEC, with a RM500 million ‘price tag’ attached, it puts the Chinese government in a dicey spot when the risk would be a bullet in the head for those who approve the payment.

The Chinese are wondering whether it is worth the risk to pay Kay Hock the RM500 million he is demanding. If the Letter of Intent to CREC can be withdrawn after issuing it, what guarantee is there that the new Letter of Intent to CHEC will also not be withdrawn after they pay the RM500 million?

The Chinese are very aware that Vincent Tan also received a Letter of Approval for his gaming licence, signed by the Deputy Minister of Finance. However, after he paid RM170 million ‘under the table’, Najib denied in Parliament that Vincent Tan had been given a gaming licence and subsequently the Letter of Approval was withdrawn.

KTM is being used as Najib’s new cash cow. The EMU coach was a deal involving Rosmah Mansor (Najib’s wife), Mumtaz Jaafar (Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s ‘godmother’) and Cindy (Desmond Lim's wife). Desmond, in fact, handled the deal where KTM coughed out RM1.4 Billion for coaches that cannot function. According to KTM, the coaches are not even worth RM300 million.

The saga gets more interesting with Najib and Rosmah holidaying in Monaco as guests of Jho Low -- who told everyone that the yacht belongs to the Prince of Qatar. It was later revealed that Jho Low rented the yacht for Euro 90,000 per day to allow Najib and Rosmah to rub shoulders with Hollywood Starlets.

That brings us to a very crucial question. Where did Jho Low get that kind of money? Well, you see, after Malaysia Today exposed Deepak Jaikishan -- Rosmah’s carpetman cum bagman cum toyboy -- she was forced to dump him. So now Jho Low is Rosmah’s new Mister Fixit and Collector of Commissions.
Let us see how the CHEC-Tan Kay Hock saga is played out. Now that the Chinese government knows that we know about the RM500 million deal would they dare still proceed with it? And does Tun Dr Mahathir Mahathir know that Najib has hijacked his pet electric train project?

N Tharmendran claimed military tortured him

N Tharmendran, the former RMAF sergeant who was the only lowly ranked RMAF staff who was charged for the theft of the 2 jet engines, claimed that he was tortured by a Major whose name Malaysiakini withheld, in a internal military investigation. Since it is certain such information will not be published by the hopeless newspapers, I reproduce what Malaysiakini reported Tharmendran revealed:

favourite method of his interrogators was to make him wear a crash helmet and repeatedly hit him as hard as possible.

"They used a golf stick and something long like a cricket bat. The reason is that when you hit me with a helmet (on), there's no mark. You can't find any mark, but the pain is internal pain. That's what Major (name withheld) told me. (He said) 'I can hit you how hard I want, but there won't be any mark. Even (if) you go to the doctor he will say you only have (a) headache"

And because of the physical abuse, Tharmendran said he suffered severe pain in his neck and shoulders and was barely move his left arm for a few days after the interrogation ended.

He also claimed that he was repeatedly stripped to his underwear, made to stand on a block of ice for up to an hour at a time, and threatened with death.

"I was told by this major, he has friends in the UTK (special forces) and KDN (Home Ministry) and it won't take him much time to get some men to shoot and kill me. Another thing he said was that nobody would believe me (if I report the torture), because he is the IO (investigating officer) and he has the authority. He said that, even if I go to the hospital and say I was being tortured by these people, he said nobody would believe me."

He believes he is not the only one being tortured by the intelligence officers, claiming at least 30 others were also experiencing the same ordeal for reasons unknown to him.

Missing jet engines & Uruguay President Tabare Vazquez

Malaysian Mirror have revealed an interesting coincidence. The jet engines went missing in late 2007 and ended up in Uruguay. The President of Uruguay, Tabare Vazquez, and his entourage of 50, paid a visit to Malaysia in November 2007.

More. Apparently Tabere Vazquez is no stranger to military arms controversies. Tabare was embroiled in the 'arms from Iran controversy'. In 2007, he authorized his navy to pick up a "cargo" in Venezuela, three months after the UN placed an arms embargo on Iran.

So is Uruguay President somehow linked to the missing jet engines?

Najib Abdul Razak proven liar again? - sport gambling license

Yes, if what was reported by Malaysian Insider in Vincent Tan blames illegal bookies, Pakatan for licence snub. If true, not just Najib but also the Treasury and the Finance Ministry too had lied for they had said in Parliament too that "“The government has yet to issue a license to Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd for bookie operation in Malaysia. The government has also not concluded discussions on the terms and conditions for licensing to Ascot Sports for bookie operations in Malaysia,” the ministry said in a written reply. Najib had claimed that no approval to Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd. However, he had been reported not once but twice that no approval had been given:

Tan (picture) said this at a luncheon with about 40 gaming analysts, where he was also said to have shown them a Finance Ministry letter dated Jan 13, 2010 that gave him conditional approval for the licence.

However, sources who saw the letter said the conditions made no mention of the government having to first gauge public support and that they had essentially been fulfilled.

A Berjaya Corp press statement released earlier today said the company was extremely disappointed at the government’s decision not to re-issue the licence “despite having granted its approval for the re-issuance of the same” — a phrase which was underlined for emphasis.

Berjaya Corp reported that the government had last month re-issued the licence to Tan-owned Ascot Sports Sdn Bhd after the original licence was cancelled by the previous Abdullah administration.

The licence itself is said to be worth RM10 million, an amount which was refunded to Tan following the government’s capitulation to public opinion on Friday.

Rosmah ad sponsor has something to hide

Someone or some party paid a lot of money for an advertisement in the New York Times (NYT) congratulating Rosmah, Najib's wife being awarded with a suspiciously obscure "International Peace and Harmony Award" by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), The cost of such advertisements ranges from US$180,000 to US$230,000 which converts to between RM580,000 and RM740,000 for a one-page ad.

However, everyone involved are evasive which points to them having something to hide and suggest guilt. The Nut Graph in Business council mum over Rosmah ad described how they try to uncover the true picture but met with people giving vague answers and not responding to clarifications.

After Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced in Parliament that BCIU was the organisation that placed the ad, another e-mail to Peter J Tichansky asked him to confirm who had actually paid for the award. This too met with no response.

A very reasonable query to Tichansky about when the obscure award was conceived and the criteria used in conceptualising the award, who were the other nominees and what qualified Rosmah for the award.

The New York Times too were evasive, again pointing to them hiding something. Initially NYT told The Nut Graph that the ad was placed by an ad agency on behalf of the Malaysian Government. This was announced by its Executive director for community affairs and media relations, Diane McNutty. They later retracted that and then claimed that it was a mistake but could not explain how such a high placed person as the director could make such a mistake.

All this point to someone, probably the Malaysian government or its croonies having spend a lot of money on a useless award and expensive advertisement to the detriment of the public. One more big fat reason why the BN should be kicked out from Putrajaya.

Government to tell all? Really? Well, the government should have told all it knew about this scam long ago, especially since it discovered the theft more than a year ago and claims to have been investigating the incident for many months now. The theft was huge (in terms of value and the sheer logistics used in moving the stolen goods out of Malaysia) and it happened in a high-profile and highly sensitive security environment (the armed forces). If the government is really serious about revealing all it knows, then it should move with the urgency the issue warrants and clearly show its determination to nail all the culprits. And while we wait to hear the whole story from the government, we should not be surprised if it comes up with its typical ‘excuse’ later on to say that it cannot reveal all because that will jeopardise investigations and/or court proceedings (that is, if and when all the people involved are finally charged).

Yeah, I can see the explanation ... "Urm .. yes para Rakyat yang senang faham, you see there were no stolen engines. The F-5E are old junk from the 70's and we've already retired them. We already had plans to flog them off on eBay and BTW, RM50M each is the price for new. Nowadays you can get them from eBay for less than RM100k. So it is not true that we lost RM100M worth of equipment. What was *missing* however are the documentations from PayPal about the sale, so we have our hush-hush military Polis looking into this. The matter does not arise, and anyone else commenting about this may be liable to OSA action."

It is a confirmed fact that the jet engines were stolen from the TUDM base. Who else is repsonsible, besides the perperators of this theft? Why was this not revealed earlier to the people? Why didn't the Auditor-General's last report include this item missing in its audit? Why was a police report not lodged as soon as it was discovered missing? Why is it taking so long for the police to investigate and bring to book those involved? So many questions but sadly not enough answers. What is the protocol for such a situation and what action is being taken in the recovery of the 2 stolen engines? Don't expect the people to provide the answers, this is the job of the government, that we elected. A blunder took place, and it is time to answer the questions the rakyat is asking.

I am yet to hear a comment from any of the other component parties in BN. This is proof that all the chinese,indians,ibans,dayaks,kadasans,etc who are members of BN are comfortable with the missing jet engine,which translates to endorsing corruption.This is why all these corruption continues unabated and the time is right to stem out BN as it is corrupt.Malaysians, whether you are malay,chinese,indian,others speak up and reject corruption by voting opposition at any by election or next GE.

I am not going to be excited by whatever BN is going to explain about their sins of omission, least of all the stolen jet engines.
