Melayu Samudera, the New Malay emerges

Announcing the birth of Melayu Samudera, the New Malay. This counter-movement was initiated by Suflan Shamsuddin and Farouk A. Peru to counterbalance the ultra-Malay movement PERKASA started by king frog Ibrahim Ali.

Web Definition of Samudera: "Pasai, also known as Samudera and Samudera-Pasai sometimes called Samudera Darussalam was a Muslim harbour kingdom on the north coast of Sumatra ..." Wikipedia: Samudera

"The word ‘samudera’ (a Sanskrit originated Malay word which means ocean) was chosen to connote a sense of openness and freedom. The Melayu Samudera therefore is a Malay who looks at the world with an open mind and with complete freedom of thought. He is not constrained by nationalism, which constantly demands a superiority complex or Islamic fundamentalism, which constantly demands a blind acceptance of religious scholars." The new outlook and worldview certainly looks good, but I think nobody can really know if it will actually be better than the old one.
